Snap-on’s new Workhorse MIG Welder (MIG220) features a high duty cycle, which offers extended weld times at a higher amperage setting. In addition, the same internal design methods used on the company’s Muscle MIG series were used in this unit.
The new welder features a maximum setting of 220A and a duty cycle of 60% at 180A — enough power to weld 5/16-in. in a single pass, according to Snap-on. Additionally, it offers 12 MIG settings and four TIG settings, all copper triple-insulated transformer windings for extended duty cycle and performance, and silicon steel laminations bolted and insulated for high efficiency. Other features include: voltage taps for exact output control; all-metal drive gears and cast aluminum wire drive system; cooling fan for extended weld times; and the voltmeter indicates OCV or arc voltage.
The manufacturer added that the welder offers quick changeover to gasless and TIG welding, is aluminum spool-gun ready and comes complete with gas regulator-flow meter. A DC TIG attachment can be added as an optional accessory.
