Thermo King produces 100,000th TriPac Auxiliary Power Unit

Thermo King recently celebrated the milestone production of its 100,000th TriPac auxiliary power unit. Introduced in 2005, the TriPac APU provides heating and cooling without idling the tractor engine - increasing sustainability, keeping drivers comfortable, delivering significant fuel savings and ensuring anti-idling compliance.

Thermo King is celebrating the milestone production of its 100,000th TriPac auxiliary power unit (APU) in its Hastings, Neb., manufacturing plant.
 
According to the company, the TriPac APU provides heating and cooling without idling the tractor engine – increasing sustainability and keeping drivers comfortable while delivering significant fuel savings. Introduced in 2005, the unit also helps ensure anti-idling compliance.
 
In August, Thermo King announced the launch of the TriPac Evolution APU, which the company said meets Tier 4 EPA final regulations requirements while leveraging new technology to drive unit performance, efficiency and user productivity. This solution, which can be ordered after April 1, 2013, for shipment in the second quarter of 2013, will lower overall truck fuel consumption, reduce emissions and provide driver comfort, according to the maker.
 
Thermo King said it features software that can be customized to enhance the customer’s operating profile. This also APU will offer an extended maintenance interval of at least 1,500 hours, a new flash-loadable control system and improved service access for easier maintenance.
