TireVigil TPMS Trailer, according to TireStamp Inc., is the first trailer tire pressure monitoring system that meets the new TPMS 2.0 standard for commercial TPMS products.
TireVigil TPMS Trailer wirelessly connects with TireVigil TPMS on the tractor so trailer tires are recognized and monitored automatically, the maker said. TireVigil TPMS Trailer monitors an unlimited number of standard dual or wide-base single tires, and accommodates a wide range of trailer configurations including dry vans, reefers, tankers, flatbeds, livestock, auto carriers, dry bulk and dump models.
TireVigil TPMS Trailer alerts fleet personnel to developing tire problems. In addition to issuing alerts for underinflation, overinflation, overheating and differences in dual tire pressure, reminders also are issued by the system to recheck wheel nut torque after a tire change and for preventive maintenance inspections. All alert and reminder thresholds can be customized by a fleet to meet its requirements and TireVigil alerts and reports can be sent to iPhone, Blackberry, smartphone, tablet, or other Internet connected devices, the company added.
Not only does TireVigil TPMS Trailer deliver remote trailer tire diagnostics, noted Peggy Fisher, president of TireStamp, it also provides fleets with the location of their vehicles. “In addition to providing the last known location of the trailer on all alerts,” she said, “TireVigil TPMS Trailer provides location-based tractor and trailer Hook-and-Unhook Weekly and Monthly Summary Reports that enable fleet managers to see how long a trailer was hooked to a tractor, where it was dropped, and how long it has been dropped so any detention charges for trailer delays can be assessed without having to use another trailer tracking solution.
“With TireVigil TPMS and TireVigil TPMS Trailer,” Fisher added, “all tractor and trailer tire data is sent to TireStamp’s cloud-based servers so fleet managers can obtain visibility into the state of all tires in their operations, not just tires on one vehicle at a time. They can see how well tires are being maintained at various locations, and identify garages, outside tire service providers, and even specific technicians that are not responding properly to address tire problems.”
