Waltco offers auxiliary pump and motor option back-up system

As an option on its liftgates, Waltco now offers an auxiliary pump and motor with control pendant (dual pump system). The option provides a complete back-up system for both power unit and control switches. In the event of an electrical malfunction in the motor, switch or solenoid, which prevents the liftgate from operating, the auxiliary pump back-up system can be activated to operate the liftgate and ensure the timely delivery of products, the manufacturer said.

In the event of an electrical malfunction in the motor, switch or solenoid, which prevents the liftgate from operating, the auxiliary pump back-up system can be activated to operate the liftgate and ensure the timely delivery of products, the manufacturer said.

Because only one power unit operates at any given time, this option reduces amperage draw requirements and extends the life of both the battery and electrical components. A selector switch in the pump enclosure allows controls to be locked out.

“This is an excellent option for fleets who routinely make deliveries in the early morning or evening, before or after normal business hours, when repair facilities or roadside assistance are likely to be unavailable,” said Joe Halpin, marketing manager. “This is particularly beneficial when trucks are loaded with product that must be delivered on time.”

The auxiliary pump and motor does not address problems related to the vehicle or liftgate power supply, such as weak or dead batteries or insufficient grounding of the system.
