TireStamp TPMS cloud service aids Hurricane Irma victims

TireStamp reported that its TireVigil Cloud Service, a truck tire monitoring system, enabled 5366 Logistics fleet owner Dan Bitton to successfully deliver medical supplies to Florida hospitals in the wake of Hurricane Irma.

On the night of Sept. 8, Bitton received a request from a Chicago-headquartered international medical supply corporation to assist in the delivery of medical supplies to Florida to resupply hospitals as Hurricane Irma blew through the state. He picked up a trailer loaded with medical supplies and headed from his Chicago area base of operations to Florida.

On Saturday, Sept. 9 at 9:03pm in Pensacola, Fla., TireVigil Cloud Service sent a warning alert to him that his left front outer drive tire was down 18 PSI. Twenty minutes later the TireVigil Cloud Service alerted him that this same tire’s pressure had dropped 24 PSI. On Sunday morning at 2:51 while Dan was taking a much needed rest, the TireVigil Cloud Service issued a catastrophic alert for this tire that was then down to 52 PSI from its target pressure of 105 PSI.

“The tire had six nail penetrations and required replacement. I replaced both drive tires,” Bitton explained.

Later that morning TireStamp could see that Bitton’s tire had been repaired and he was on his way again from Pensacola to his destination in Miami with all tires in good order.

“To be honest, checking tires was the last thing on my mind,” he said. “”This mission was critical and I had a state police escort. Had TireVigil not alerted me I would most likely have blown both drive tires given my weight. I know my partner TireVigil is watching my tires, and am truly grateful for it.”
