After a comprehensive development and evaluation process, Fleetmatics has registered its Fleetmatics Reveal LogBook Electronic Logging Device (ELD) for Android solution with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). Commercial drivers who are currently required to maintain records of duty status (RODS) will be required to use an ELD to record Hours of Service (HOS) by Dec. 18, 2017.

Reveal LogBook ELD manages drivers’ RODS, enabling customers to easily record and store HOS information, and meets all technical specifications mandated by the FMCSA. Fleetmatics will also continue to support customers who monitor their FMCSA RODS and HOS regulations with the LogBook AOBRD-specific solution. Customers utilizing Reveal LogBook applications have access to 24/7 driver support. Fleetmatics Reveal LogBook ELD Edition is available now for download in the Google Play store.

Capacity Trucks debuted its new zero-emissions lithium-ion-powered terminal truck at the Advanced Clean Transportation (ACT) Expo. This new electric terminal truck is the latest in Capacity’s zero-emissions line of products designed for port, intermodal and distribution/warehouse applications.

The Capacity EV terminal truck is powered by a Hyster-Yale electric powertrain and available with an option of 130 kWh or 260 kWh lithium-ion battery and, according to Capacity, is expected to operate for the length of a normal shift before recharging is needed, delivering consistent power and maximizing uptime. The company notes that the battery can be recharged in as short as one hour.
