Don’t take the fuel filter for granted

The truck’s fuel filter can be easily overlooked, but it shouldn’t be. It may not take up the space of the trailer or the engine or have the attention-getting features of a transmission or a telematics device, but it’s just as important as any of these components to the fleet manager’s never-ending quest for efficiency and uptime.

It’s in these areas that the new Fleetguard FF63054NN fuel filter shines. The follow-up to the FF63009, which was introduced in 2013, the new FF63054NN is designed to continue its predecessor’s success in keeping fuel injectors working like new by capturing the harmful contaminants commonly found in diesel fuel.

It is built to work with Cummins B and L engine lines—after all, with Fleetguard being a part of Cummins, the engines and the filters are designed with each other in mind.

Along with that, the new filter meets Cummins’ performance specifications for the B6.7 and L9 engines. What does that mean for you? It means that the FF63054NN can help lower a customer’s total cost of ownership by promoting a healthier fuel injection system on each vehicle or piece of equipment in their fleet.

Fleetguard fuel filters like the FF63054NN also reduce the risk of premature injector wear or failure—and that means fewer surprise trips to the shop and fewer hours lost to downtime.

Additional features include:

  • Improved capabilities in severe conditions;
  • Maximum system compatibility between the engine, filter and fuel system;
  • NanoNet media that provides a high level of fuel injector protection against dirty fuel;
  • Easy-to-service with the flat bottom user-friendly filter design;
  • Disposable composite shell; and
  • Coverage under the Fleetguard Warranty.

You don’t have to have a brand spanking new engine to use the filter either—the FF63054NN is backwards compatible with any 2013-2020 Cummins ISB6.7/B6.7 or ISL9/L9 engine where the FF63009 was previously used.

All in all, if you’re overlooking the fuel filter, you shouldn’t be—there’s a lot it can do for you, and the benefits of spec’ing the latest and greatest will pay off in the long run.
