Myers Tire Supply has a new way for fleet technicians to get their torque wrenches recalibrated quickly and accurately.
Myers’ online Torque Tracker Program helps techs get their torque wrenches recalibrated in three to five business days. All they need to do is go online to myerstorquetracker.com and register.
Myers will fax or e-mail the shipping paperwork to the fleet. The wrench is recalibrated and returned, and will have a sticker showing when it was calibrated and a separate certificate of calibration. The certificate is required for an inspection or as proof of compliance in legal actions; Myers keeps a digital copy of the certificate on file. If the customer misplaces the certificate, a new one will be emailed at no charge. The program also notifies the customer when the certificate is ready to expire.
“Careless or improper installation of wheels on a vehicle is a major cause of tire and wheel problems,” Myers said. “Improper torque can cause distortion, fatigue cracks, alignment problems or even a dangerous wheel-off condition. In an effort to eliminate such a dangerous incident, truck maintenance facilities and service centers are asking for a system to calibrate and track their torque wrenches. To prove compliance, they must keep a certificate of recalibration on file in case a government or insurance agency asks to see it.”
