ACT Expo is busy: Thousands of attendees, a host of exhibitors from tried-and-true truck OEMs to electrification newcomers. Hydrogen hype is growing. Most importantly, real conversations about how the industry is moving toward a zero-emissions future are happening on every corner of the show floor. This isn’t a “wouldn’t it be nice?” vibe. Decarbonization is happening. Battery electric, hydrogen fuel cell and yes, even diesel, are all playing a role.

Volvo Trucks North America made a bevy of announcements yesterday, including new VNR Electric orders from Performance Team and 10 Roads Express.Freightliner rolled out its eCascadia, and gave us a look under the battery electric truck’s hood.Behold!Navistar unveiled the International eMV medium-duty battery electric truck that is in production and available for order.Hino announced its Class 8 hydrogen fuel cell prototype truck. The Toyota fuel cell badge on the Hino hydrogen truck is just one example of Toyota’s strong hydrogen fuel cell presence at the show.And here’s another example: the Kenworth hydrogen fuel cell truck that is powered by a Toyota fuel cell.Lion Electric was a new name to me, but I had a chance to meet the team and take a ride in the Lion 6—a battery electric Class 6 truck. Count on a ride-along video to drop on FE in the back half of September.Cummins had its natural gas lineup on display.The Cummins CNG fuel system.Hyliion announced an upgraded hybrid powertrain.Suppliers like Meritor had a strong electrification showing, and not just in their booth, but on the vehicles throughout the show floor that are powered by their eAxles.Dana made new electrification product announcements at the show. Navistar announced that it now has more than 100 EV authorized dealer locations. The OEM says it will have more than 30% of its dealer locations ready to support the sale and service of both International and IC Bus EVs, across 41 states and seven of 10 Canadian provinces.
